Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the group access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.

Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
