The Two Fatalities Named in the Providence Campus Incident as Authorities Continue Manhunt for Gunman.

Two students who were killed in the recent tragic incident in Providence were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant continued following the release by local law enforcement of the only individual questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s branch of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also expressed words of sorrow online, remarking: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the renowned school, family members said.

His name was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine other people were hurt in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-old male detained in a search at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “This will probably generate renewed concern for our community”.

The shooter began shooting inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a police source informed the media outlet.

Officers that searched the hotel seized two handguns and two ammunition clips when the individual was taken into custody, according to reports.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, one student was released from the hospital, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in critical but stable condition, and one remained in critical care, officials reported on Sunday.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, friends, and peers and lament the passing of his potential.”
